The Election Commission of Pakistan has suspended all preparations for local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until further orders, after the federal government extended the suspension of Article 140-A of the Constitution to every district in the province.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a show-cause notice to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan for failing to hold mandatory intra-party elections by the extended deadline of 15 October, warning that the party could be deprived of its electoral symbol.
